In continuation of Victoria Beckham’s fringe and foxtail LV bag, Rihanna was also photographed that week with a bag from the same Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2010 collection. But instead of one of the outrageously colored handbags, Rihanna chooses a… fanny pack?

Seriously, fanny packs? Is Marc Jacobs just playing a joke on us or is this really his fashion forecast for 2010? Should we start gearing up for the fanny pack’s comeback since it was a big trend in, well, never?
Even during the time when fanny packs were often seen on the hips of tourists, they weren’t “befringed”, “betassled” and “be-monogrammed” like the almost offensive LV version. In fact, they were very un-trendy and more utilitarian-looking. There was a very brief moment in the early to mid-00s when fanny packs sort of came back in style but they were disguised as “tool belts” or “belts with little pockets and bags on them”. And they weren’t called “fanny packs”.
If you like the hands-free convenience of the fanny pack and MUST have it in fringe like Rihanna’s, we suggest you go for swing packs instead. They have the style of a handbag, the space of a messenger bag and most importantly, they don’t have that “I’m a tourist/fashion victim” look to them.
