Alright, we admit. We are hard-core Olivia Palermo fans here at Your Next Handbag. Sorry, we can’t help it. The socialite is simply stalk-worthy. We’re constantly amazed by the way she comes up with outfits that look like they came straight out of a magazine editorial. She has definitely mastered the art of mixing and matching, and we’re hoping the talent would rub off on us if we follow her around long enough. It’s wishful thinking, we know. But, hey, we can dream, yes?
Speaking of which, Olivia was once again spotted looking fantabulous while out and about in New York City yesterday. She had on a really simple getup — a classic khaki trench injected with a bit of color drama by pairing it with a bright orange shirt and some exotic-skin flats.
What blew us away, however, was how she unexpectedly finished the whole ensemble with a khaki foldover backpack (worn as a handbag) instead of the usual tote. Yep! Olivia sported the perennially unglamorous knapsack and made it look chic!

Olivia Palermo’s unexpected extra — a foldover backpack worn as a handbag
Now, this is precisely the reason Olivia is called a tastemaker. She works up outfits like magic and makes ’em look amazingly fresh and stylish.
That said, do take note that her choice of accessory played a huge role in the whole effect. She opted for a classy and unique-looking backpack made of tonal suede material — one that came with a top handle for option.
We had trouble identifying the bag, but just in case you’d like to give backpacks a fair chance in your closet (thanks to Olivia here), check out these not-so-traditional options we found at Amazon:
