How often do you see a celebrity toting a mini crossbody on the red carpet instead of the usual clutch with her floor-length dress?

Not often, in fact. The last time we spotted a famous face carry a purse bigger than a box clutch was a few years ago – Sarah Jessica Parker in VBH while attending the NYC Ballet Spring Gala in 2011.

It’s a rare sight to see, actually. So whenever we do come across one, we write about it. For 2013, it looks like that write-up will go to Marion Cotillard.

The fashionable French movie star, who has crossed over to Hollywood in a big way, attended the BAFTA 2013 Awards Season Tea Party with a bow-detailed mini purse slung across her shoulder. She used it to cap off a silk floral gown from the Erdem Pre-Fall 2013 Collection.

The mix was a little odd, but somehow, she made it work. In fact, with the purse, she could dress down her look by a few notches (something we think she did on purpose).

Do you like the combination? Would you wear it? And how do you like her fishnet satin Christian Louboutin mini ‘Sweet Charity’ bag?

It’s actually a clutch, but she opted to use the chain strap and wear it hands-free:

Grabbing a “Sweet Charity” is no joke. Marion’s bag, for example, retails at a hefty $995. If you don’t want to spend that much, here’s a designer alternative that won’t cost you as much.
